Mackenzie provided the overall design lead in the development of plans for the Our Lady of the Lake campus, including comprehensive off-site public improvements. The 54,000 SF building houses a K–8 elementary school with office space, nine classrooms, specialty classrooms, a gym, and a cafeteria, as well as a parish office. Also included in the project were playfields and other site improvements.

DESIGN DRIVERS

For holistic success, the project required outreach and coordination with the neighborhood and City.

Mackenzie devised a strategic plan for public outreach and navigation of the public process, addressing multiple stakeholder interests.
In addition to preparing land use applications, Mackenzie successfully coordinated and obtained complex Conditional Use and Design Review approvals, which included six neighborhood meetings and two public hearings. Mackenzie worked collaboratively with the City of Lake Oswego to ensure that all city requirements were addressed while developing a design suited to its context.
After an unexpected loss in funding halted the design process, Mackenzie helped with fundraising—designing donor elements to incorporate into the building, including individually purchasable donor bricks and a donor appreciation wall.
