As part of a two-pronged approach, the City of Gresham expanded its capital facilities to include the Rockwood Public Safety Facility to not only serve expansion needs for a standalone evidence facility, but additionally bring law enforcement services to the neighborhood. Mackenzie aided in evaluating current operations and programmed the facility for evidence, investigation, gang taskforce, patrol services, a community room, and police training. Relocation of evidence functions allowed the department to develop a modern evidence facility with room for growth and necessary operations. Designed and delivered as a CMGC project, the facility has become an integral part of the neighborhood and community it serves.

DESIGN DRIVERS

As the City of Gresham continues to grow, the City identified a neighborhood in need that was experiencing elevated crime. As a key driver to consideration for precincts, it was determined that a precinct would be a valuable resource to the department and community.

Careful consideration of the exterior design and material selection was important to developing an aesthetic that was warm, welcoming, and inviting to the community and adjoining neighborhood.
Inclusion of a joint training and community room was critical to the planning efforts as it served as a cornerstone for developing community investment.
